Hi, i have a large number of photos that i need to resize to an 18*18cm size.

I have selected the photos and clicked the "export" button, and on the export pop up i have put the file location etc. On the Image Sizing section i have selected "resize to fit", "Dont enlarge" and put dimensions as 18*18 cm. Put 300 pixels per inch for res.

When i click export, LR processes the photos and exports them to the selected folder but the dimensions of the photo are unchanged ?

Where am i going wrong ? I have done this in the past (well, i have a similar set of 18*18cm photos from a trip abroad)

Many thanks

What are the dimensions of the photos you are looking to resize on export?

Hi
Well, the original photo size (pixel dimensions) is 6720 * 4480 (yes, they are huge - taken on an EOS R Full Frame)

I had looked up what 18*18cm in pixels was (something like 4500 odd from memory and put that on my export parameter, but still no joy - so changed it to cm.

Thanks

An image that is to be printed as an 18 cm x 18 cm @ 300PPI would have 2126 x 2126 pixels. Did you crop the image to a 1:1 format prior to exporting? And what happens if you tell the Export dialog box that you want an image that is 2126 pixels (on either side since it is a square print)?

OK, i have just tried the dimension to be 2126*2126 pixels (300 res) and exported one picture - it is showing as 2126*1417? I can not see anywhere to change the ratio to be 1:1 on the export dialog?
Thanks

Ok, i can see that option in the develop module, but i assume that has to be changed for each photo individually? I had hoped to batch resize over 400 photos.
JUst worked it out - select all the photos, change the aspect to 1:1 and then sync - all 440 now show as 1:1 (square) - i can now resize them and batch export. Would it not be helpful to have the aspect ratio setting as part of the batch export dialog though?

No, it wouldn't. As I said above, you'll lose part of the image. If you were to automate the process, you would not be able to choose what to keep and what to delete. I doubt that would make you happy.

Thanks Hal, yes, i can see what you mean now - i will go through each photo to crop to get the appropriate part of photo in crop, and then export them.
