I'm currently processing a set of party photos - some of which are a little underexposed as the batteries were fading as I was shooting.

Anyway, by using auto tone, then using Reset on the histogram, I'm getting an image that looks acceptable to me on the screen - hopefully acceptable to the customer when he gets his CD.

Trouble is, I'm not sure what I'm doing exactly. Can't find any reference to that reset option that I get when I right click on the hitstogram. What am I resetting? It's not the same as rest at the bottom of the panel in the develop pane.

And is there a better way of doing this?

Snapper, I never knew about that!! So how about that!!! LOL
Will have to have a thorough look at it as it responds as you say - different.
Mind you some one with the know will come on by quick as I'm sure and let us all know ....

Yes, amazing what you find. It's not in Victorias book - or I couldn't find it. :)

She may be up for a reprint !!:shock::shock::lol::lol:

Perhaps that is lucky !!:cheesy::cheesy::mrgreen::mrgreen::shock::shock:

You know why it's not in there.... it's not an FAQ! ;) In fact, that's the first time anyone's asked that question, and I hadn't spotted it either. But you're right, very neat. It just resets the sliders that are affected by the histogram - exposure, recovery, fill light and shadows.

Ah, now I know.

Seemed useful to me anyway, lets hope it's discovery helps a few others as well.

Do I get it named after me - like discovering a new species or an undicovered planet?? :D

You can write a post for Tips & Tricks if you like snapper.... ;)
