I would like to see the Renaming function provide the capability to 'replace' (e.g. substitute characters) AND 'remove' or 'delete.'

Regarding a 'replace' function, I understand you can batch rename everything, but then you need to carefully rethink the entire renaming template. If I have spelled a word incorrectly, it would be great to replace just that word with the correct spelling.

Removing or deleting text is even more important to me. For example, after editing an image in Photoshop, the image appears in Lightroom with '-edit' in the file name. If you re-edit the same image in Photoshop, you get: '-edit-edit' in the name.

When it's time to export the images, nobody wants this extraneous text in the exported file name. Wouldn't it be nice to have the ability to replace and delete in the Renaming function?

There is a manual workaround, in that you can search for words in the text filter, and then make changes to those file names manually in the File Name of the Metadata menu. But that is manually intensive if you have edited multiple images in Photoshop.

Thanks for considering.
