I am new to LR 2 and I want to say that I am really enjoying it. My problem is that I have imported photos of a wedding that I shot and can't get thim in the order that I want.

The flow of the wedding was pretty basic so the time stamp method of sorting works pretty well. However, I shot some photos out of order. Photos of the cake, venue and invitations. I am trying to compile a slideshow and I can't figure out how to drag the photos into the order that I want.

I read the posts about renaming as I export the files to keep them in order, and how to rename an individual file F2 and to change the sort data by Library>View>Sort.

What I am struggling with are the wild card files that are not named or out of the order that I want.

Welcome to Lightroom Forums Lorrir!

First create a Collection with the keepers. Then, from the Collection in grid view, you can drag them by the thumbnail in the order you want and make a slide show from this Collection. Don't forget to select "User Order" in Menu, View, Sort.

Welcome Lorrir. Denis' suggestion is right on. One additional gotcha' in the process, when dragging images in the grid, you must click on the actual thumbnail image and not the gray frame/bezel.

Since I am new at this the all of the photos I have loaded are in the catalog. I deleted the bad ones before I loaded them into LR, can I move a catalog into a collection or do I have to drag them one by one?

Look like you are quite new to Lightroom. One can not judge if a shot is bad unless it has been imported in Lightroom or, know he forgot the lens cap on or, use JPEG.

You can not move a Catalog into a Collection as the catalog is the container for the Collections.

Above, I told you to first create a Collection with the keepers. If all are keepers, then just select them all. Ctrl-A for Windows, Cmd-A for Mac OS. Then, in the left panel down click the + sign beside Collections; In the dialog box, name it and put a checkmark to the "Include Selected Photos".

That would be fine if you fill in your signature so we do not have to ask about your setup each time... See "User CP" link top of page on blue bar...
