I'm having a lightroom problem that I can't seem to find the answer to anywhere. Here's the situation:
I had a hard drive crash a few months ago. Most all the files, I was able to recover from backups. However, some of my backup folders are renamed the original file name, while the ones in LR are the new names. I had originally thought that all I'd have to do was:
1) select all the photos in the "collection", rename as original filename
2) relink to the new folder where all the folders HAVE the original filename and
3) rename in LR, and voila!
BUT!!!! When I try to rename the images as their original, even though it still remembers the original filename, it says "photos will not be renamed because they are missing, or not writable". So, it won't write the new name to the already existing pictures, but I can't relink them until they are renamed, and I am having to go through entire weddings (with 1''' pictures EACH) and relink them by hand. I can't afford another extra 1'' hours of work!!!
IS THERE A WAY TO FORCE LR TO RENAME AS THE ORIGINAL FILE NAME???
PLEASE HELP!!!
Thank you for your time!
