Remove empty Folder from Folder Panel - Folder gets deleted

The manual sais, that if I am removing a folder from the Folders panel (choose "Remove" from context menu), "The folder and its photos are removed from the catalog and the Folders panel. The original folder and photos are not deleted from the hard drive.".

When I click "Remove" on an empty folder, however, the folder gets removed from the disk-drive as well. This is very annoying, as sometimes a folder (e.g. "Temp") is left over in the Folders panel from images previously imported from there, but moved somewhere else or even deleted, but the folder is to be used for other purposes in the future.

Related to this:
According to the manual, there should be a "Minus icon (-)" available to remove a folder. In my Folders panel, I do not see any Minus icons (see screenshot below).

Is it a bug or a feature ?

I don't have minus signs next to folders either...

I did a test and if I remove a folder with images it is not deleted from the OS. If the folder is empty then it is deleted from the OS.

I have found the minus icon that manual is talking about, it is at the top of the folders section, next to the + icon ! see attached

Thanks, I just overlooked the Minus sign, as it's only there when a folder is selected.

I think the physical deletion of an empty folder is a bug, the manual clearely states the opposite.

If you have a temp folder that you would like remain there you could try putting a small text file in there to see if that is enough to stop LR removing it.

Any way, you can file the bug thru the link at the top of the thread. The more eyes and ears, the better.....

That is the case, any file within the folder prevents LR from deleting it from disk. But I clean up my Temp folders regularely, so they usually are empty.

I think any deletion from disk by LR without even a confirmation window is not nice. I'll report it as a bug, as it clearely does not work as documented.

Yes good idea. I didn't realise you were using the actual OS temp directory. I thought you had created a temp directory just for use with your images and LR which a small text file could reside in quite easily as a work around for now.
