I have a godzillion-million small LR files "preview data" on my HD that take time to search, virus check etc. Can any of these safely be deleted?

The folders start @' and run through the alphabet with lots and lots of subfolders.

I don't think you can delete them (easily that is, they are read only) and LR will recreated them if you do delete them. They should only get scanned once and again if accessed. They will only be accessed if needed. You can exclude the *Previews.lrdata from the virus scan if thhis is a bottleneck.

You can reduce the size and quality of the previews and minimize the retention period of the 1:1 previews to keep this storage as small as possible
