Red Eye Tool question

Hello everybody,

I am quite new here and still learning all the features of LR.

I would like to ask you something regarding the "red eye tool".
Please have a look at the attached image. It is a snapshot of my dog with flash on.

You can see the flashlight (white) in his left eye.

It seems to me as if it is not possible to use this tool on this image, as the eye isn't red, but "flashed white"? Is this correct?

To fix this I'll probably have to do it in Photoshop?

One little trick I have used in such circumstances is to fix the other eye and then drag the fix over to the first eye and then fix the other eye again. Not sure if that will work with your particular photo but give it a try.

And Lr's red-eye tool only works with human type red-eye phenomenon, and not the green-eyed variety one encounters with other animal.

Mark's suggestion is good, I'll use that method to tweak a catchlight that's not quite right. You might play with pulling down brightness or exposure with a local adjustment brush, but I find that pretty hit or miss. Sometimes it's great, most times not.

As far as actual red-eyes, you can improve the tool's effectiveness by working at large zooms, and temporarily bumping exposure, saturation or vibrance during the repair.
