Recovering Images/Pictures from Catalogs lrCat ... or whatever ?

I Import Pictures from Memory Cards into LR 3.6 (Windows 7), tinker with them/Develop, Sort etc etc, Then Export to a separate Data Storage Device - Iomega Hard Drive). This wasand remains due to concerns at the ability of me or LR to loose them/some.

However, I have now found 2/3 Files of Pictures/Images from my huge Stash on said Hard Drive are missing. Cannot find them there at all.

So, recalling that there is or was a means by which one could recover them from LR's Catalogs ......... (I think/hope) ... How ?

I am a bit (aka A Lot) rubbish at this Technology lark and LR in particular, so mega simples language in any responses, please ?

Hi,

What you want is a plugin to recover "cached previews". There are many of varying capabilities just Google.

This should be built into Lightroom if you ask me. There are many of us that sometimes need to fire off
a quick email with a low resolution photo when our archives aren't accessible.
