Smart Collections don't work?

I have several smart collections set up with a specific criteria, but it appears that it only works when it wants to. Here's what I'm trying to do.

I have some photos that have keywords "sb X" or "sb Y". Then I have some that are "pb X" or "pb Y", where the X and Y are different names. Sometimes sb and pb are the same name All of the pb photos have different colors in the keywords.

So, I have a smart collection that has these criteria:

Contains all keywords pb X
Contains keywords palomino

I would assume that only the photos that are pb X, not pb Y, sb X or sb Y, should show up in the smart collection, right? Well, that's not happening. I'm getting photos that are sb X, not pb X. What am I doing wrong? I have several other smart collections with the exact same criteria (except for different colors) and they do work, so maybe this has happened after the update to 2.5?

I also tried using + between the words, before and after the words, etc., to no avail.

Also, does "contains all" equal "contains only"? I think that's the criteria I'm really looking for.

Here is a little more information if the above didn't make sense. What I want is a smart collection that is:

photos of pb x
NO photos of pb y
photos can be either sb x or sb y
photo of color (like palomino)

Right now, what shows up is
sb x
pb y
every color (palomino, chestnut, etc.)

when I use the criteria:

Contains all keywords pb x
Contains color palomino
