Raw/nef -> Jpeg?

Hi,

I am using a Nikon D3'' shooting RAW+JPEG-FINE.
There is a prgm in the Nikon that converts the RAW -> JPEG. What I wood like to do is:
Shoot RAW only and let LR do the converting to JPEG-FINE.
Capture-NX seems to do the job, does LR?

I suggest that you make a copy of your NEF files, convert them to DNG, then try out Lightroom's raw conversion capabilities. Then you can compare Capture NX with LR and see the results for yourself. If you do not like the results, you have lost nothing but time.

Ken, there's probably no need to complicate matters with DNG at this point, seeing as Willem's NEF's can go into LR without converting. And then if Willem likes LR's workflow, we can then have the DNG debate!

Hi Victoria,

I wasn't suggesting DNG for the love of the format, but mostly to avoid the hassle of having a sidecar file. But, your recommendation makes sense if one is not familiar with the process of creating a DNG file.
