I was fortunate to travel to Yellowstone/Grand Tetons in late 09/2022. I went with a new camera and it was set to take both raw and jpg images. I'd like to delete the jpg images but am unsure if I should do it through file explorer or LR. I use LR Classic and whatever is the most current version.

If you do it from within LrC you will not have to do anything else. And there are a couple of ways to do it in LrC.

But if you choose to do it from within File Explorer, you will have missing files when you open LrC next time. But you would only have to synchronize the folder from within LrC then. I do it this way when purging lots of old files.

The methodolofy depends on how you imported them. If you had your preference to treat them as seperate photos in LrC (i.e. you see two previews om the grid, one raw and one Jpg for the same shot) then just delete the JPG's using the Folders Panel inside of LrC.

However, if you had the defualt setting of "Treat Raw files next to Jpg's as one image", then the process is a bit more complicated as LrC expcects to see two physical files for each catalog entry. in June, 2016, user "JohnBeardy" referenced a script he had written to delete redundant Jpg's (referred to as side car Jpg's). I found this on the Lightroom Queen forum. I have not used this script nor I am vouching for it and as John states on his page it is free and therefore not supported. But John does know what he's doing.
