Lets imagine this:
  • I am shooting in JPEG+RAW
  • in LR I import both JPEG+RAW and have set that they behave like one file

And now my questions:

  1. When any edits are done (colors, white points, curves....) they are done on RAW version, right?
  2. If I export photo to JPEG and did not perform any edits or improvements and want to export it in original size, is JPEG exported from RAW or is just JPEG original copied?
Thanks,
Michal

(1) Right, ou are always working with the raw file in Lightroom. The JPEG is treated as a sidecar file -- if you rename, move, or delete the file the JPEG will be handled alongside it, but you're never using the data inside the JPEG version.

(2) See above -- Lightroom is always working with the raw file. There is no way within Lightroom to export the original JPEG.

My personal view is that there is hardly any benefit in importing Raw+Jpeg 'pairs', as there is nothing you can do with that Jpeg inside Lightroom (other than rename, move, delete, but only in partnership with the Raw). Treating them as separate photos makes much more sense (to me at least) if you are shooting Raw+Jpeg.
