raw files taken on canon 50d won't open in lightroom 2.4 or photoshop cs2

files won't open in lightroom or photoshop, yet they are fine on my laptop, so it is not a corrupted memory card...Phew!! But what can it be? Have recently had a computer man upgrade my video card, could it be that? Photoshop says not right kind of doc, lightroom says unsupported or corrupted? i'm sure it is something simple, but i'm not too good at computing problems!!

When you say "files won't open", can you be more specific? is there a particular error message you're seeing, and what exactly are you doing that brings up the error message?

could this be an issue with Canon compressed RAW ? I know Aperture can't open Canons CR2 files if they are compressed.

Hi ljc, welcome to the forum!

CS2 won't be able to open them, as support was added no earlier than 4.6. LR 2.4 should be able to import them just fine though. Just double check that you've definitely updated to 2.4 on your desktop - and that you're opening the right version.
