I am looking at getting Lightroom2. The website says you need 1GB of RAM and my computer has 512 GB RAM. Can I still use Lightroom2 or is an upgrade in the future for this computer?

Welcome to the forum Bill!

It may still run, but it'll probably be a bit slow. Download the trial and give it a go though.

Thank you Victoria, is the trial version the same as the full version ?

RAM is cheap as can be these days. I'd upgrade the RAM as Lr will be really slow with that much.

Plus, installing RAM is really easy. And, you are talking to a person who is all thumbs with computers. In fact, I really hate computers.
I had to update my old Dell 46'' with 1GB cards- it was a snap!

It will run, but very slow when using the tools and adjustments.:cheesy:

I have run it on my old Sony Vaio that has 512mb ram.

I would suggest that it will be quite slow,.
If you work on a machine with more memory, then change to a limited RAM computer, it is intolerable.

I have that T shirt.
:)

I ran it with 512 for a short time. As mentioned, tools like the adjustment brush lagged and was a struggle. I quickly wanted to add more ram and added another 2gb. All the difference in the world now.
