Quick Develop panel versus Develop Module

For better or worse, I turned off the Quick Develop panel, as I felt much more comfortable using the Develop Module. Now, I'm starting to re-think this.

So, I'm curious. How many of you use Quick Develop? Do you use it in addition to the full Develop Module? What factors influence your decision to do some work in Quick Develop panel, and other work in the full Develop Module?

I use QD daily. I also use Develop daily.

Typically, I use QD for groups of image-in particular client shoots-where I have to send groups of images to a customer, typically by web. It helps me make a series of portraits or product shots look balanced and homogeneous quickly and easily. Most of the time it is selecting those that need a minor exposure tweaking.

I consider it invaluable. It is the only place where incremental adjustments are practical. I would love to see it expanded, frankly.

Develop is one-off images for me. The client looked at sixty proofs (online) (done in QD) and then chose two. Those two go to full Develop for 'full processing' and delivery.

I use develop most of the time but when I'm going back over images in the library it really useful for tweaks. As Rikk points out it can do multiple images too. I'll often look at images again the next day and think they are little too dark / bright etc... and then change them all using QD.

Thanks! I think this is why I never used Quick Develop. I am not a professional photographer, so I don't do photo shoots under relatively consistent lighting conditions. Just about every photo is a one-off situation for me.

Still, today for the first time, I was looking at some photos in the Grid view, and saw two that looked too dark, and I opened Quick Develop for the first time and lightened them a little. In the past, I would have gone to Develop Module on each (which would have required a step back to the Grid view between developing the two photos).

Learn something new every day!

Same here, hence never really looked at QD at all. Also, as I'm not trying to make a living from my hobby (just as well, I'd be destitute by now!) I'm never operating under any real time constraints either. So I can usually afford the time to work in the develop module, as well as having more tools to experiment (i.e. learn!) with.

QD adjustments are relative which makes them very handy sometimes. You can bump the exposure etc. a notch or two on multiple images but don't have to worry about the actual settings value.

It's been asked frequently to allow some sort of relative/absolute switch in Develop module to accomplish to these different tasks in the same place. What the UI would look like, and whether it's actually doable, and when it might happen, who knows?

As well as bulk adjustment, it's also intended to be used in the early evaluation phase when you're deciding whether to keep or trash. The image might for instance be underexposed and need brightening before you can make any decision about it.

I tend to go into periods when I use it. But by default I work in Auto Sync and doubt I'd miss QD.
