I'm not quite sure how to explain this so please bear with me! Anyways, let's say I want to reduce or increase the exposure of the picture by a stop or even half a stop, how would I proceed with that? I know I can always slide the slider to increase or decrease the exposure, but I don't know how many stops I'm increasing or decreasing by. Can someone explain what the values actually mean? Thx!

If you move the slider to +1, that is the equivalent to changing the exposure by +1 stop.

As Paige says, 1.'' =1 stop in develop module. In quick develop hover over the arrows and it will tell you 1/3 or 1 stop for each click.
But watch your histogram for clipping. Don't go too far.
