Because my C drive was almost full I removed photoshop beta, this program is over 10 gb in size. The only annoying thing was that after that the function in lightroom "open as layers in photoshop" no longer worked. Does anyone know the solution for this? I have no need for the beta version of photoshop at all. Thanks in advance.

Reinstall the current released version of Photoshop. It should add the correct paths to the LrC function that use this.

Thanks but that doesn't help. First I uninstalled beta, then the option "open as layers in photoshop" did not work. Then I installed the latest version of beta again and then it worked. Then I uninstalled PSP and then it did not work again. Then I installed the latest version of PSP on my laptop and then the option worked again. So the option "open as layers in photoshop" only works if I have both beta and PSP on my laptop. That is strange.

And you do know the you have to select more than one image in LrC to be able to use Open as Layers.

From your post it is not clear to me that you uninstalled Beta and then installed/reinstalled released version of Photoshop

I will explain. In the afternoon I removed beta. Then that option did not work. In the evening a friend came and he said you do not need two programs of psp so remove the regular version. We did that and then the function did not work either. Only when I have both photoshops on my laptop the function works. I know that I have to select multiple photos.

Try this: uninstall both Photoshop versions and also Lightroom Classic. Then reinstall the regular version of Photoshop first, and then Lightroom Classic. This order is important.

I can't say if Johan's instructions are critical but they do work.

For me, I did the following:
  1. Selected several images in Lightroom Classic and chose "open as layers". Photoshop, not PS beta opened the layers.
  2. I uninstalled Photoshop beta.
  3. Selected several images in Lightroom Classic. All of the alternate "Edit In" choices were non selectable. This confirms your issue.
  4. Noticed there was an update to Lightroom Classic (v14.3.1) and I updated Lightroom Classic. (Note: I did not uninstall LrC)
  5. I uninstalled Photoshop 2025.
  6. I reinstalled Photoshop 2025. Note the order of installation is opposite from Johan's recommendation and contrary to what I would recommend when Photoshop does not appear in the "Edit In" menu.
  7. Selected several images in Lightroom Classic and chose "open as layers". Photoshop, opened the layers as expected.

I did what you wrote but it didn't help. Again I had to install both psp and beta. I'm leaving it now because to be honest I didn't like the removal of lightoom. I had to set everything up again.

You should have kept the preferences. This sounds as you deleted them. Uninstalling/reinstalling Lightroom is totally painless if you keep them. Just two or three button clicks, nothing more.

I uninstalled the program through Creative Cloud.
I did too. In the uninstall, there is a step asking you to keep or delete preferences. You should keep these, as it contains all of your settings that you had to set up again.

There is a 'plist' file that you can recover from your system backup. This is the preferences file that you deleted. If you don't want the beta, you do not need to install it.
