I just upgraded to PS CS4 and I love it. I also am using LR 2.1.

Like many of us, I like to make global corrections in LR and make specific detailed corrections and edits in PS.

With CS3, the right click command>edit in photoshop has always worked flawlessly. I edit a copy with LR adjustments, make my corrections in PS, click save, and the updated copy is displayed in LR.

THE PROBLEM:

When I finish my corrections in PS CS4 and save the file, I click back over to LR and I have a warning box stating that the photo could not be imported because it could not be read... It may be an incompatible format.

This occurs with all types of files, the orginals are RAW, Exported copies to PS are 8bit Tiffs. All color spaces are sRGB Files are named a custom name with Sequence ( Image-1.tiff)

This never happened with PS CS3.

Thanks!

Any ideas?

Okay, I solved my own problem.

CS4 does not like LR 2's edit in PS command.

Solution:
Go to Preferences>Edit> and select the external editor to be Photoshop. You will receive a pop stating that Photoshop is all ready selected to be the Primary editor. Click past it.

Now when we need to use the Edit In menu, select "photoshop.exe" instead instead of "Edit In Photoshop CS4"

This is kind of quirky, I also noticed when I used the usual "edit in Photoshop CS4" The lower fields of the option box wasn't there. This included all the fields allowing to select file type, compression, etc. All that could be selected was "edit original, copy", etc.
