Process to Save Final Printed Image

After finalizing a image in PS3 I clicked Save AS and then stored in a Folder for future use. What is the same procedure in Lightroom to insure further use?

Larry, first welcome to the forums.

You'll find that Lr is quite different from almost all software you're used to. There's basically no 'Save' function. Any work you do on a photo is saved automatically and separately from the original photo file. The original file remains untouched, where you imported it from. Lr stores a link to the photos' location, and stashes all the rest of the work in an internal database, as a 'recipe' of adjustment instructions.

You'll naturally have a number of questions, all beginning with 'But...' Have a look in our Tips/Tricks forum, for some resources for 'learning' users. Particularly look at [color=#''''ff]Top Ten Gotcha's,[/color] The Basics, and Books and Tutorials.

It's a completely different way of looking at things, so prepare for a bit of a learning curve. It takes a bit to get comfortable, but most folks find the result productive and rewarding.

Once you've finished with it in LR you don't have to do anything, It's just sitting there indefinitely unless some catastrophy happens and your hard drive fails or something. ( use the backup function in LR and send it to a different hard drive) If you need to use it in some other application or something then you "export" it to wherever you want. Or if you want a smaller version you export that. Look over the export dialog box carefully. There are a lot of options that will allow you to do a lot of different things with a photo. Every time you export something check to be sure you have the appropriate boxes checked, etc. so the file goes where you want in the type, size, etc. you want.
It's a totally different concept than what you're used to, but it works well when you accept the difference.
