problems with borderless 4x6 printing

I'm using LR 1.3 on a Mac OS X 1'.5 on a PowerBook Pro. I'm shooting for a client tomorrow and they want me to print to their Canon Pixma iP18'' printer, 4x6 borderless prints. They are using the "easy print" software that came with the printer, but it's actually slow and cumbersome to print from (many clicks and waits, dumb DUMB software). However, it prints borderless on this printer just fine. Not so when I try to print the same images from LR.

I have checked:

Page Setup > Paper Size = 4x6 Borderless

Print Settings > Paper Handling > Suggested paper = 4x6 borderless
Print Settings > Paper Handling > Borderless printing (all options greyed out)
Print Settings > Paper Handling > Margins (all options greyed out)

Print Module > Layout > Margins = '

Print Module > Cell Size > 4 inches wide x 6 inches tall

What am I missing - how do I get these photos to go from LR to the printer in borderless?

Hi JC, welcome to the forum!

I'm not familiar with the Canon printer drivers, although I believe some members here are. If they don't drop in, can you post screenshots of all of your LR and printer driver settings, and we'll see if we can get this figured out for you.

Can you post some screen shots. I am not familiar with the Canon printers but I gues theer is something not being checked somewhere.

My expirience with Canon printdriver(s) (I995' only) is not so good. Seems like the driver and LR don't understand each other very well. Never found out where the problem is Adobe says Canon, Canon says Adobe. Seems LR only, Elements is working ok.

What I did: make a colorprofile for the Canonprinter with the spyder. and what SEEMS to be important: set ALL things you want in the printerdriver from the printermenu first and check it from within LR. Settings made from LR often seem not to work as expected.

Will you let us know the results?

I have a Canon Pixma i85''. It is a great printer but. . . doesn't communicate well with Lightroom - regardless of which tries to manage the colors. I find the only way to get results that print like the screen is to export sRGB and have Photoshop do the printing. The Canon drivers come with a couple of profiles - with names contains letters and numbers. MP seems to indicate matt paper, others refer to glossy paper. I have tried using Lightroom and these profies with unimpressive results - often too much magenta. My recommendation is to take some extra time - even if it mean exporting the images the client chooses as PSD or JPG and then printing them with their favorite software.
