Everything has been working OK - and then I suddenly got the following message " The Lightroom catalog named "Lightroom catalog-v10" cannot be opened because another application already has it opened. Quit the other copy of Lightroom before trying to launch.
There is no other copy of Lightroom opened -- I have closed the PC down but it doesnt make a difference. All the previous copies of Lightroom are stored where they need to be in the Pictures folder but I dont want to revert to an early catalog.

What can I do about this please.

Solution
Next to the catalog is a lock file (called catalogname.lrcat.lock) that is created when you open the catalog. Sounds like it didn't automatically get deleted when Lr closed - just delete that file (ONLY that one) and Lr should start fine.
