Even though the "transfer to DxO PhotoLab 8" plugin is installed, using does not send any file from Lightroom to PhotoLab 8. The parallel transfer plugin for PhotoLab 7 still does work with the older version of PhotoLab.

I've gone and removed all traces of PhotoLab 8 and reinstalled the latest version, with not luck. I had the same problem with the previous version of Lightroom, before upgrading it the other day.

Anyone have similar problems? Or a fix? So far, DxO has been unresponsive.

Sorry, that makes no sense. I've tried your suggestion anyway and it made no difference. DxO PureRaw is the only DxO app that I know of that actually installs a background process on startup of the Mac and that is obvious when the MacOS starts. Having dxO PhotoLab 8 open at startup, or whenever I hopen Lightroom still doesn't work with the PhotoLab8 plugin.

@DavidKosiur216 I had very similar issue and i raised an issue with the DxO support, got a templated answer on the first go. I decided to dig down a bit deeper and realized that DxO PhotoLab 8 is not enabled under the Login Items & Extensions. So i enabled it and then logged off and logged back into Mac. Then the plugin worked on Lightroom Classic (File => Plugin-Extras => Transfer to DxO PhotoLab 8).

If you have not logged back in, please do give it a shot. Let me know how it goes.

Here is the screenshot just for reference. You need to add it under "Allow in the background" section under "Login Items & Extensions" of System Settings. Then log off and re-login.

Ahh. You're quite correct! Sorry for my first reply. I had added PhotoLab 8 as a login item, NOT an extension (which is lower down in that preference panel) Now that I changed that and restarted my Mac, everything works as it should.

It's a wonder after all my communications with DxO that they never mentioned that. I'll have to inform the person who was handling my support ticket.

Many, many thanks.
Dave

Ya, DxO support sucked and somehow from your post i got the impression that they will never solve the problem themselves. So i decided to spend some time on it. I do not know how much tech savvy you are, so i dialed it down in my recommendation.

Short answer for why it worked ? Enabling it on the background process lets DxO PhotoLab to start registering the service with launchd which is a service management framework used by Mac. Unless this registering happens, the plugin do not know what to contact and how.

When you enable it on the background process, the following gets registered.
Code:
gui/501/com.dxo.PhotoLab8LaunchAgent = {
    active count = 0
    path = (submitted by smd.88)
    type = Submitted
    managed_by = com.apple.xpc.ServiceManagement
    state = not running

    program identifier = Contents/Resources/LaunchAgents/photoLab8LaunchAgent (mode: 2)
    parent bundle identifier = com.dxo.PhotoLab8
    parent bundle version = 8.1.0.35
    BTM uuid = 04A0A76B-1275-449E-963B-8213045F1907
    inherited environment = {
        SSH_AUTH_SOCK => /private/tmp/com.apple.launchd.fny3xO99jM/Listeners
    }

    default environment = {
        PATH => /usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin
    }

    environment = {
        XPC_SERVICE_NAME => com.dxo.PhotoLab8LaunchAgent
    }

    domain = gui/501 [100325]
    asid = 100325
    minimum runtime = 10
    exit timeout = 5
    runs = 5
    last exit code = 0

    endpoints = {
        "com.dxo.PhotoLab8LaunchAgent.endpointStore" = {
            port = 0x17c153
            active = 0
            managed = 1
            reset = 0
            hide = 0
            watching = 1
        }
        "com.dxo.PhotoLab8LaunchAgent.endpointProvider" = {
            port = 0x150117
            active = 0
            managed = 1
            reset = 0
            hide = 0
            watching = 1
        }
    }

    spawn type = daemon (3)
    jetsam priority = 40
    jetsam memory limit (active) = (unlimited)
    jetsam memory limit (inactive) = (unlimited)
    jetsamproperties category = daemon
    submitted job. ignore execute allowed
    jetsam thread limit = 32
    cpumon = default
    job state = exited
    probabilistic guard malloc policy = {
        activation rate = 1/1000
        sample rate = 1/0
    }

    properties = partial import | resolve program | has LWCR
}

The plugin is looking for com.dxo.PhotoLab8LaunchAgent.endpointProvider and is failing because its unable to find it. PhotoLab8LaunchAgent being the launch agent and endpointProvider being one of the endpoints exposed to which the plugin connects.

This forum made me register before i replied you. Thought it might help you out anyway.
