My new computer shipped with a fully licensed copy of 64-bit Lightroom 2.2. The computer is a Sony VGN-AW19' with 8GB RAM, running Vista-64 Ultimate, SP1. The screen is Adobe1998 color managed. My photographs look fine in every application I have installed so far except LR2. In LR they all look posterized. The color is completely off. I can't figure out how to change this or what settings to use. Is it possible that LR is ignoring my images' embedded color profiles? They were all saved in Photoshop CS3 with Adobe1998 color profiles.

How do I get them to look correct in LR? Thanks in advance.

I looked up that Sony spec, VB, and it's a laptop, that mentions some sort of specially AdobeRGB tuned display. At that point I figured that Sony had done their best to ship with the correct profiles, etc.. VB's correct tho' enochsvision, this problem usually derives from corrupt/miscalibrated display profiles.

It does appear that the color profile is either the wrong one or it might be corrupted. I did a thorough search of the computer's files looking for .icm profiles and finally found the Adobe monitor profile. Surprisingly, it was not installed by default. It seemed to me that according to the machine's specs that the profile should have been factory installed (it wasn't). I was hoping that their profile would be specifically for this display.

I followed Victoria's helpful instructions and installed it anyway. There was a definite improvement in LR 2.2. It looks like I have to tweak the nVidia Control Panel to get it perfect. I'm disappointed a little because that means that I have to get a display calibration kit. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

I'm also going to call Sony technical support about this. The odds of their techs knowing what I'm talking about are probably small. Hopefully, they can point me to a download to fix this issue. Otherwise I am very happy with this computer. It is extremely fast, especially after turning off most of Vista's useless and distracting eye candy. I'm a retired Microsoft senior technical writer so I know how to tweak Windows for best performance.

Thanks to all for your help.

Can you suggest reasonably priced hardware to do that? Would a Huey Pro be good enough or are there better products in the same price range?
