Problem with LR 2.2 and Canon EOS 5D Mark II

Hello to the forum. I am brand new to this forum with this being my first post. Being a member of other forums, I can definetly appreciate the experience of people who have "been there and done that".
I love Lightroom! I've upgraded to 2.' and then to 2.2 in anticipation of changing my main shooting camera from a Nikon D-8' to a Canon EOS 5D MkII. The canon is a great camera, however it does not seem to want to play well with my 5D. There are 3 raw settings. None of these are recognized by LR 2.2. When I import from device, all I can see is gray squares. It starts to import them but always errors out as being an unrecognized file. I would hate to shoot in jpeg. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Rich, Welcome. That camera is supported by Lr 2.2, so ...
Have you tried copying the raws to a local harddrive and importing from there?

Here's some general trouble-shooting steps, in addition, Lr General Trouble Shooting

Info on your system may prove helpful as well. Mac/PC, OS versions, etc.

Hi Rich, welcome to the forum from me too!

There are already lots of people working with the 5dMkII and LR, so it should work ok.

Have you installed any of the Canon software? Are you importing directly from the camera, or from a card reader? It may be a camera communication issue, as LR uses the standard camera drivers when reading from a cable-connected camera.

Welcome to the forum.
I have the 5DmkII and in my case it runs with LR 2.2.

We need info' about your system, before we can get into detailed fixes.

I use the Large RAW format, not the smaller ones. Both LR and OSX (I am a Mac person) open the raw images.

What is the exact error message you are getting?

If you own a Mac....
Can you drag the images from the CF card to a folder on the desktop and open the files with preview?

Hey, if I post three images with all the exif stripped out.
One from a Canon, one Noink, and one Lumix, I bet you can't tell me which camera produced the image ?

BTW they are all images of a black cat in a coal mine, image resized to a max of 2'' pixels (largest edge).

Hi guys (and gal)! Thanks for the warm welcome! Card reader did not help, but the solution was equally simple. I just re-installed the software, and viola, up and running again! I own a fairly beefy 8-core box running XP, as I do alot of video editing. I'll get my profile updated and put this information on there to make helping this "jack of all trades master of none" easier to help! I also tend to shoot in the largest RAW file available. You can always make it smaller. Making it bigger is may involve getting a phone number from those late night infomercials, LOL.
