Problem seeing preview in Lightroom 2.4 Print Module

can some one help me?

I had no problem printing 5x7 and 8x1' prints. When I tried to print 16x2' on 17x 22 inch paper, the preview in lightroom as well as the preview on my Epson 38'' does not show the print preview. Instead , I have a grey blank sheet with some red writing which I cannot read. Has anyone experience this before.

Any help will be appreciated. Jimmy

Is it possible that the red writing says something like "B2- Out of Memory" only upside down and mirrored? How large is the file you're trying to print in terms of megapixels? How much memory in your machine? OS, etc.?

This is a bug which has raised it's head occasionally for quite a while. Give us some more details, and maybe there's a way around.

BTW, if nobody's said so, welcome to the Forums.

I too just had the problem with a Gray print with "Out of Memory - Abe:" in RED upside-down and reversed. My Print Preview window (Upper-left in Print module) is blank (white). This occured while printing a Super A3 (13"x19 paper) with a print size of 12x18 at 36' ppi. The image file is a native 3612x241' TIF. I'm running this on a Windows XP SP3 Core2Quad (3GHz) with 4GB ram. I'm printing on an Epson 38''.

I did a relaunch and optimize, the Preview was still blank so I closed everything and rebooted. I relaunched (Print Preview window still blank) but the image printed prperly this time.

My catalog has about 45,''' images with a catalog file size 6''+MB. I use lightroom all the time, and this is the first time this has happend to me while using LR2.x.

Unfortunately, I don't have any advice to offer at present, I'm hopeful some of our other members will have an idea or two....

Which Lightroom version (particularly Jimmy)?

It's generally down to a lack of contiguous memory (not just a lack of memory overall), so rebooting is probably your best bet. Haven't heard of that one for a while though.

David - layered tiff? File size?

Sorry not to have replied sooner. In response to the type and size TIF question, I can't say. At this point, I don't recall which image it was.

However, this problem (both the Grey-with-Red-ABE and blank or white Image Preview window) just appeared again printing a NEF (Nikon RAW out of a D3'') file that was edited only in LR2.4. Print size was 8.5x11. The file size is 12.MB with a 15KB sidecar file. I've made multiple Virtual Copies of this image, and MANY edit steps.

Specs of the machine are same as listed above. Conditions on the machine at the time of the problem were:
1. Machine had started to become a bit sluggish (1-2 seconds to paint the screen)
2. Running LR in dual-monitor mode
3. IE was using 75'MB of RAM and so I closed it.
4. MS Money was also running and consuming a fair anout of RAM, so I closed it.
After doing thiese things, LR returned to normal response time. I did a few more edits with no problem. Then I printed and the Gray-with-Red-ABE problem appeared. I performed an Optimize Catalog funtion, backed up, and restarted LR. The next print attempt was successful.
