Hello all,

I am trying to create a smart collection built from files that do not have the 'location', 'city','state,'country fields populated.

If I create a smart collection that says LOCATION IS valueX, it correctly finds all photos that have ValueX in the location field.

If i leave the value field empty it does not appear to check for a null value. No results are returned in the smart collection.

Does anyone know how i can check for an empty value?

Thanks!

It appears that unfortunately there is no selection state for 'is Empty' like with some other Metadata. I would suggest you put in an official request for this addition at the Bug Report/Feature Request link.

John,

That is so creative. I am amazed at the ingenuity used to get around software ... anomalies. While it would be nice to have the stuff just work, you at least are wonderful at helping us figure out how to at least get close!

Just devious, Neil! This works with any of the fields where Adobe ran out of time and didn't add the Is Empty criterion.

John ,the brilliance of your answer inclined me to move Digital Black and White Photography from my wish list into my shopping cart ;) - thanks!!

The Advanced one, published last year, is the better of the two. ;)
