Prints not "poping"

Using L/R 2.2, Pent 4, LaCie monitor, Optix calibrater, Epson 38'' and Epson Ultra Premium Luster and Glossy.

My problem is my prints don't pop unless I gp back into L/R and bump Saturation up 25/4' points and Vibrance about 2'. My monitor is calibrated frequently and I don't have any color shifts. I am comfortable I have the printer set up and using the correct profiles.

The problem is slightly less noticable on glossy, but it still needs bumping. I'm printing underwater macro shots that have strong colors and high saturations. Unless I can solve this problem, I'd like to dial the aforementioned boosts into the printer somehow, so it shifts the whole profile.

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, that is correct. The prints are flat or do not 'pop' unless I go back into L/R ond over saturate as I described in my initial posy.

Allan, first the signature could show something like I have, computer, camera, etc. Saves having to dig around to find what you have to give responses that apply to the relevant OS, etc.

Thanks for clearing up about the result you are getting, I just wanted to be sure!:lol:
That sounds like the profile you are using is not the best. Are you getting LR to manage the colour and selecting the profile in the LR print module? If you are first I would try another profile e.g if you are choosing a gloss profile, try a semi gloss profile.
Also I would suggest trying your monitor with an sRGB monitor profile to see if your calibrated profile is working ok. If you get a print that is fairly close with the SRGB monitor profile it would suggest that you calibrated profile may be corrupt - this can happen.

I do not fully understand your suggestion of "...use sRGB momnitor profile".
My understanding is that sRGB is a smaller space than RGB 98 which would reduce the color spectrum span generating a more 'flat' image.

Since Geoff's in a way different time zone, I'll fill in.

The sRGB profile was to be a troubleshooting procedure.
He didn't mean that sRGB is a better space, what he meant was that the sRGB profile furnished with Windows is bulletproof and would temporarily remove the possiblity of the problem being caused by a defective display calibration profile. A number of problems can be caused by defective profiles, and it's not unheard of for us to encounter defective profiles being created by calibration systems. This is always a concern when the issue is color compatability when moving images to external output devices.

Oh, and by all means consider updating to Lr 2.3. There are a number of bug fixes (not specifically related to the current problem tho') and it's regarded as far more stable.

That is precisely what I was getting at, test the result using the sRGB profile to see if your profile may be at fault.
