I have a profiling tool (Profile Prism from ddisoftware) which generates ICC profiles. It requires printing a standard image from the software which is to be used for normal printing - in this case Lightroom 2 - but with NO color management applied at all.

In photoshop it is possible to select "No Color management" (which is not the same as "Printer Manages Colors"). How do I select a similar setting in Lightroom?

Thanks!

I suspect you ought to be able to select "Printer Manages Colors" and then in the printer driver dialog select "No Color Management". I certainly can with the Epson 24''.

Welcome to the forums!

Yes. Lucky has it correct.

By letting the printer manage color, LR stays out of the process. You printer driver should have the option to turn off all color management and let the print go through for Profile Prism without any outside manipulations from either LR or the printer driver.

Well, I tried that. Thing is, it just looks completely wrong. It is a Canon printer so I set the Color/Intensity to manual and the Print type to none (as I always do when I print with color management handled by the application).

I printed a test image from Lightroom with the printer driver set as above and with Lightroom profile set to "Managed by printer".

I then did the same from photoshop set at "Printer manages colors" and the print driver set as above.

The two prints are totally different. I would have expected them to be pretty well identical.

I went on to print the print from photoshop with "No color mangement" and the printer driver still set as above. Result a almost the same as photoshop set at Printer Manages colors, the (slight) difference being down to the fact that Photoshop's "Rendering intent" is active when you select "printer manages colors, but not when you select "No color management".

So, it looks like Lightroom "Managed by printer" is either buggy (very, since the print was VERY different from either of the Photoshop images) or works in a very different (but strange) way.

Actually, thinking about it and looking at this print, I think that LR is literally doing what it says on the tin and letting the printer manage the colors BUT it is sending raw ProPhoto numbers to the printer, which is expecting something similar to sRGB and so the print is WAY off.

So, looks like there is no answer to my question, or, more accurately, the answer is "yes, you can print with no color managenent, but it is not really what what you want".
