Printing (ahrg) with canon i9950

Hi,

It seems to be a major problem (ehhh, mistake) here.
Now I don't have any clue: using Cannon i995'. WHAT do I set the printerdrviver to do? (I can choose "windows handles" and "manual"). Nevertheless WHAT I choose, I still can choose paper aso in the canon "print settings".
What I have done: let pinter rule the settings and with every print fill in the parameters. The different settings in LR made no differens
ce, so I think there must be some unawhare interaction between LR and Canon .


Most strange: getting the parameters right for A4: ahhhhh!, printing on A3: garbage. I'm out of (expensive) A3 PPR so I cannot (and won't) try that many settings, IF somebody has a clue ...

Hi Adobe CS3 and Lightroom as follows this is what i use on my i995'.
Paper photo pro, Manualy set printer to no colour managment. I use sRGB for monitor and colour settings in CS3/2, In print box of CS3 use photoshop managers colour, next box down Printer Profile is PR-1'1. works right every time

So you keep "plain paper" and "standard"printint quality seleccted in the printer driver? Could you make some screenshots and sent them to me?

I am giving up to try tp print wit LR. I have used a lot of paper to try all possible combinations for printer and LR settings. None of the pictures is satifying.:shock:

I tried to print with PE6: PERFECT.:mrgreen:

I cannot find WHAT is the difference, but is seems to me that LR has some problems with the printing module. Since so many people are using it dan DON'T complain it must be something in my system or in my setttings, but I am out of ideas (and paper now ...:evil

If anyone has ANY idea: i would like to try it. Doing things in LR and do the printing fom PE6 is possible, so I will keep this thing up until ....:lol:

Printing in LR is a little different. The rules are..

Printing in Lightroom
- Calibrate your display (seems obvious but needs to be said)
- For best results LR must manage colors.
- Select a paper/printer profile from the Profile: pop list.
See below on how to add to this list.
- Turn off color management in the printer driver.
This can be cryptic in some drivers.
In Canon drivers: Main - Color/Intensity - Manual - Set... Color Correction = None
- Assure the printer is connected directly to the PC running LR.
Have heard of instances where networked and firewire connections have worked, but they may not.
- Print resolution is set to an even divisor of the printer resolution.
Canon 3'' (12'' / 4) Epson 36' (144' /4)
- [Windows Only] Assure that the color profile files have the extention .ICM
Profiles are located: C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color

Adding Paper Profiles to LR
- In the Profile: pop list, select Other...
- Tick the profiles that you want in your pop list

Good list Morey, I'll add to make sure you go through the "Page Setup" and "Print Settings" first. There may be things to watch out for there as well, but I'll leave it to someone else to point out Canon/PC settings.

Thank you SO MUCH for THAT link. My printing problems seem to be resolved, just following the lines in that article. It was actually very simple

What made me do the wrong things was my idea (and it still seems logical) that setting the printerdriver to "Windows handles colors" was the only thing I had to do. Now it is clear to me that I have to alter many more settings in the driver. For example: if I use PhotoPaperPro I have to tell the driver that. I did it just the other way: select "plain paper, thinking that the profile in LR would take care of that.

One thing is not mentioned in the link: in the driver for the Canon I995' there is an option to let the printer ecognize the paper you are using (at least HP does a great job with this option), I have unchecked that option, as Conon itself says it wont work always. In my case it did not indeed.

Conclusion: the Canon printerdriver is not very clear in WHAT settings need to be changed.
Ahh, you cannot win it all. Next week I'll have a great dinner (thanks to you) from the savings I made in buying piles of photopaperpro. I'll dinkt to that and you!

This had me confused for a while, I'd go into the Print Settings and set my driver settings, then back in LR select a template, print and have a bad print... I was overwriting the driver settings with the settings (bad) in the Template.

Still trying to figure out the logic of three buttons across the bottom - Page Setup..., Print Settings... and Print. All bring up the same driver dialog, Print has the added feature of actually printing.

I started to create profiles in the Canon Printerdriver: PhotoPaperProLR for that paper at first, so whatever has been changed in the driver can be restored to the correct LR-settings.
I fill in the "Image Settings" and any other relevant things in the RIGHT-HANDED part of LR (That is where I found how to print without border) and then choose "PRINT" where I can import my Paperprofile.
It seems that settings in the printerdriver like "print borderless" are overrulled with the setting fomr the LR settings.

To me all this is VERY confusing. Adobe SHOULD talk to CANON to get together in this.

It is driving me nuts.
I THOUGHT I had it together: the prints from LR are a little bit darker (more color) that the prins from PE6.
So things are right now and I start printing A3.
I DOES NOT WORK!!!!! Prints are luisy once more. Do the same in PE6 and voila: a fine print.

Until LR has this sorted out I won't use the print module anymore, in my opinion it is broken, at least for my printer.

A dark cast usually indicates double profiling. You're in Windows, be sure to check the settings as you are sending the image to the printer, the first dialog has the Properties... button. If you make a change be sure to update the LR template.

Yes, Iknow, it even has a magenta glow: another reason.

But I had it alright with A4, just change the paper size to A3 and I'back to zero.
I think there is a problem between LR en the Canon 1.75a driver for the I995' printer.
What I do now is work in LR after things are done go to develop module andselect Phoyoshop Elements. Print from ther (nice prints, whatever format!) and the back to LR.

Perhaps you can tell me what Adobe did different in Photoshop Elements 6 and LightRoom 1.3.1 with the drivers, templates, whatever you call it for at least the Canon I995'?

In LR I can choose fom a very cryptic list, in Elemenst it is in plain Dutch which paper I can choose (and in PE there are many more options!).
I suggest Adobe implements the Elemensts system in LR.

As I wrote many times: printing goes wonderfull in PE, in LR it is APITA. Same setting in printerdriver!!!!!

That was an attempt to get the Forum Software to behave.The thread was sticky as not read. It worked after a while.
