Printing a part of image?

Can anyone help? I will be printing an A3 of an image. However, I want to print a small section of the image as a test print to see how this will print.

For example, at the moment I am opening the image in CS2, resizing the image to A3 size, then copying and pasting that image into a 6x1' template, moving the image around till the most representative area is framed, and then printing this as my representative print. In other words, I am not trying to print a 6x1' of the full image to imagine how the same image will print in A3 - I want to see an actual true representation of a small part of the full A3 image.

Is this possible and how does one do this?

I would just make a virtual copy and crop to the aspect you want.
Then you could set up a print template and position the image where you want on the sheet using the cell size and margins.
And a big welcome as well !!

Thanks, this would be one solution. However, then one would not know exactly if the selected cropped portion will render identical to that which will be printed in A3? (May not print in the exact correct proportion)

Use crop tool unlocked and set to original. Note a position half way and crop to that (e.g. drag the right edge to the halfway point). Print at A4. This gives you half the image on half the size of A3 and saves you paper. Sounds crazy but should work.
