I have a Canon i85' printer but my prints do not print correctly from LR. There are only profiles for the i56'. I've download the latest driver but it only has profiles for the i56' (I guess they're the same?)

My monitor is calibrated and the printer prints fine from other programs (Canon DPP, Windows, etc.) but not from LR with the i56' profiles.

Any suggestions?

Hi Toney

Welcome to the forum!

Could you just run through what settings you're using in the Print module - colour management ones particularly - and what you have set in the printer driver too?

Hi Victoria,

Thanks for the quick response. First of all, I'm running LR 1.3 for the PC.

I've got the print resolution at 3'' ppi, print sharpening at medium, profile at i56' SP2 (I'm using Canon Photo Plus Paper Glossy), Rendering Perceptual. My printer driver is set at: size 4x6, media Photo Paper Plus Glossy, Print Quality high, color/intensity auto, page layout borderless. Everything else was set at default.

I hope that's the info you're looking for.

Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the Canon printer driver, and I haven't been Windows based for a long time, but go hunting for a 'no colour management' checkbox in the printer driver - LR's sending data that's already converted to profile, and I'd guess your printer driver is overriding it.

Does it print OK if you let the printer control the color and select the appropriate paper in the printer driver?

I can't find anything on profiles for the 85' on the Canon site but it looks like the 56' and the 85' run different ink cartridges so I wouldn't assume the profiles are the same. Don't know if they're just different size cartridges of the same color or different inks. The 56' write-up specifically mentions the printer using pigment inks while there's no mention of that in the 85' overview.

Is there some way to turn off the "Color/intensity Auto" setting? That could also be your problem.

HTH,

I'll give it a try tomorrow when I get to work. I brought the printer in so I could work on it but didn't bring it back home with me tonight.

No colour management

I am using a Canon Pro9''' or whatever the thing is called. I print quite nicely from Lr using a calibrated monitor -

I think your problem is in the auto setting. Choose Manual, and under Colour Correction choose None. That puts your print in the capable hands of Lr. It's the best printing I've ever managed to do. FINALLY.

I don't think it should be this hard frankly.

Good luck with that. Let us all know?

HTH,

When I let the printer control the color, the pictures are all very dull. I'll give try out turning off the "Color/Intensity" setting tomorrow.

Katherine's suggestion is on the money I believe.

Hello Everyone,

I changed the "Color/Intensity" of the printer driver to manual and it fixed the problem. :D

Thanks!
Phew!!! That's great to hear!!:):)

printing

That's great to hear Toneyw. Happy printing.

I experimented a bit more with LR 1.3 and am getting results that are pretty much spot on. Couldn't for the life of me get the same thing in 1.2.

I don't know that anything has changed with printing in 1.3, interesting!! Pleased you've got it sorted now:):)
