It is currently possible to make a print with some extra page and photo info. I would like more flexibility and be able to draw borders.

I am the author of an elaborate adobe CS2/CS3 script called Ditto, which you can read about and download here. It is not my intent to promote Ditto, as I am no longer supporting it (the scripting environment in CS3 was not working for me), but I would be tickled pink if adobe integrated the functionality into Lr.

Here are a few examples showing what you can do with different templates in Ditto and batch apply to any number of selected thumbs in Bridge:

This one has a hstogram embedded on the lower left..

Ditto is freeware - anyone is welcome to use or tinker with it. I just would like to see the functionality ported to Lr.

Cheers

Welcome to the Site. And I agree... something like this would be a nice addition. Throw in a little font management for the copyright overlay, and I'll be thrilled!

We all ready have a line on this using graphical ID Plates in print and slideshow, (won't work the same in Web and Export) using Transparent PNGs (TPIs) done in Photoshop and applied to the images.

See Lightroom Extra Downloads/ TPI Frames for more info.

This use in LR was first proposed by Andreas Noren before LR V1.' actually came out.

I have been actively pursuing Adobe to expand these for use in WEb and Export as well.

If you have not looked closely at what Ditto does you might not quite realize the extent of what I am suggesting - it is quite a bit more sophisticated.

Your work with this is legendary Rory!:!:
Have you thought of the possibility of writing a script for LR, I don't know anything about programming etc, but would it be possible? You could be onto a winner if you can:cheesy::cheesy:

LR isn't scriptable. I hope it will be in the future though, as I like to play with the odd javascript myself.

In the meantime, the illusive SDK is certainly a possibility, but that has to be released before anyone can start programming. It's certainly the sort of thing that it would work well for though, so you may have just gained yourself a job Rory!

I am sure it is more sophisticated, than what I pointed out, because Adobe has bot taken it anywhere yet. This is an LR use Discovered by an Adobe outside that, as far as I can tell was not in the ADobe Teams realm of think back then, and still is undeveloped.

I have been pushing for the further development of it all along. If when the SDK comes out the Ditto people can make it work with LR, fine, I'd still like to see the internal capacity for IDPlate use expaned.

It is amazing how ingenious users can be! I agree that the IDPlate has lots of potential.

One point on a third part extra like a potential Ditto one. Likely to be not free, so if LR can do any portion of the same sort of thing, maybe not with as many bells and whistles, the better.

It's certainly an area that could be expanded. I'd love to see it available in Export instead of having to resort to droplets and other workarounds.

Rory, have you submitted your idea direct to Adobe? http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

Ditto will currently work using the export/droplet route, executing whatever template is currently selected in Ditto - but as you suggest, this is a cludgy work-around.

I have offered Ditto (the code or the idea) to adobe several times. I do not think I tried using the wishform (I will). I thought I might have more luck if I could pursuede someone with contacts to the Lr team to champion the idea.

I am on the list for the SDK when it is released, so I am considering it, but I only program as a last resort. The Ditto script has over 9,''' lines of code, so this is not a small project.

As you are likely aware, the javascript environment is not as well supported and stable as it could be.

The SDK, depending on how good the 1.' release is, might work. My experience is that you have to be prepared to work on this full time, attend developer conferences and pay adobe for technical assistance if you are serious about producing a great product.

I already have a nice day time job, so I want someone else to take this forward.

Good point Don.

Excellent. So many ideas and not enough to do anything with them!

Ian: what's with the requirement for forum message responses to be at least 1' characters long?

I assumed it was minimize spamming and useless posting - I've seen the same on a number of forums. Ian, prove me wrong! ;)

I can't prove you wrong, because you are correct. It's one of a few methods to help cut down on excessive posting and SPAM. I have caught myself a few times wanting to reply with "done" or "yep" only to have my own Forum tell me that I can't.

Try this one on for size... perform a search and realize you've made a typo. Now you have to wait until the timer runs out and you can search again. Also frustrating, I know, but unfortunately needed to help with bandwidth.

Thanks. (Just wanted to know if this was a bug - I added this bracketed stuff to be legal) :cheesy:

Yay!

EDIT: Doh! I tried to enter spaces after what I type above (you know, to be slick and beat the system) and my Post was still rejected for being too short. Dang smart software...
