Previous Import not cleanup

I am using LightRoom 2.4. As you know "Previous Import" point to photos that have been last imported within LightRoom catalog.

At the beginning, "Previous Import" was reset therefore I was able to know by this entry what was the last picture I have imported. But now, "Previous Import" still point to old import plus the current import. To give a better explanation I give sample.

Before :
I open LightRoom
"Previous Import" -> '
LightRoom imports automatically 1'' photos
"Previous Import" -> 1''
I process my 1'' photos
I close LightRoom

I open LightRoom
"Previous Import" -> 1''
LightRoom imports automatically 5' photos
"Previous Import" -> 5'
I process my 5' photos
I close LightRoom

Now :
I open LightRoom
"Previous Import" -> '
LightRoom imports automatically 1'' photos
"Previous Import" -> 1''
I process my 1'' photos
I close LightRoom

I open LightRoom
"Previous Import" -> 1''
LightRoom imports automatically 5' photos
"Previous Import" -> 15'
The current counter is increased (mixed) with the previous "Previous Import" !!!

Questions :

Do I understand correctly how "Previous Import" works ?
Why behavior of "Previous Import" changes ?
How can I clean "Previous Import" counter ?
How can I identify only the new coming pictures if "Previous Import" cumulates imports ?

You are correct there, something strange.
I have checked and one of may catalogs has some strange behaviour there as well. But my current one is behaving normally.
I would try optimising your catalog as a first move. Under Catalog Settings.

Welcome aboard. It would help if you could fill in your signature block in the userCP (top left in the blue tool bar) with info similar to mine but mainly system specs etc - thanks.
