Previews missing

[color=rgb(', ', ')]I copied my LR catalog and preview files from desktop to laptop, overriding the existing files on the laptop. (The images themselves are not on the laptop.) Now I can see all the catalog entries, but the program shows that the files are offline or missing. That is correct, but I had assumed that the previews would appear (as they have in the past, despite the images being offline). The preview files are in the same folder as the catalog file. What am I missing? How do I see the previews?

Hmmmm, yes, they should show. Maybe try copying again?

Thanks, Victoria. I did, and they have appeared. I wonder what was going on before. Some of the previews are of far better quality than others. I'm guessing that when I imported, I used different settings for preview size. Is there a way to now generate larger previews so that the poor-quality ones will be more usable?

Not on the laptop, without the original image files. You can regenerate the previews on the desktop machine; Library module menu > Library pull down > Previews (4 from the bottom), and recopy them.

That preview rendering menu item used to be in a sort of blind spot for me, somehow. I went into the menus, with the concept of 'RENDER' on my mind, and 'Previews' just went in one eye and out the other.
