when I pull up a folder I see the array of frames for that folder, but no image appears in any frame. If I click on a frame and then go to the Develop function an image will appear. If I do that for more individual frames I can get images to appear, but only 3 at a time. If I have 3 images showing and then click on a 4th image and then Develop, one of the three previous images disappears while the image I most recently clicked on appears. In a folder that has frames selected with a filter, for example one star, I can select starred frames but no picture is displayed in any frame. If I select a frame and Develop, previous edits are shown. So I know the program has information about the image and its history.

Using the menu bar.. there should be an option to build previews. Try selecting all the grey frames and rebuild the previews for these.

Also… check have all the images been injest…. Ie… did it stop half way.

I had the same issue when testing how "Sync a different Catalog" works on a set of new catalogs with only a dozen images involved. Did you do any unusual cloud sync opertations that may have conicided with you first observing this behavior?

I don't think it's the video driver although that is a possibility.

Does this sound like your problem? It is what I documented at the time

Images that had Smart Previews in LR without edits (#4, #14, #22 #24) showed empty cells in the LrC grid, loupe view, and Survey view. In the Compare view the previews showed up but this did not prompt them to return to the other views. Taking these 4 to the Develop module created previews for the Grid and other Library Module views. And it gets weirder. After taking all 4 to the Develop module I noticed that the preview for the first one, #4 was again missing. So, I took #4 to Develop and as soon as I did, its preview appeared in the film strip, but the preview for #22 (2nd of the 4) disappeared. If I then take #22 to Develop, it shows up but #24 goes away (3rd of the 4). And if I then take #24 to develop, #4 disappears. Around and around we go. I cannot get all of them to be present at the same time.

The 4 images were those where the LR/Cloud had smart previews from syncing with catalog A. I then switched to Catalog B where in which I had not imported these 4 images and told LrC to sync this catalog instead of catalog A. This caused the Smart Previews from LR/Cloud to be downloaded to Catalog B (as Smart Previews ONLY) and this behavior resulted.
