I have several folders named after the camps I stayed in Africa- River club, Savuti, Linyanti and Tubu. I flagged the photos I like. I went the the first folder- River club and made a collection using the flagged filter. Now, I go to my Savuti folder. I can repeat the process but I am going to make another collection. I am looking at five options- create collection, create smart collection, create collection set, sort by name and sort by kind. Next I create a collection set, do I drag the files(collections)( River club, etc) into the collection set. Is this the correct method? Is there another way?

Collection sets only holds group of Collections! So put the images in name Collections or use Smart Collections. And then put the set of camp collections is a Collection Set! OR create the Set first and then put each new camp Collection under it.

OK, once I placed two collections into a collection set, I lose the ability to use the sort order function. Basically, the images from the two folders are mixed up and cannot be fixed.
It appears that I must keep the folders separate from each other in order for me to use the sort order function. I still working my "slide show" and making sure there is a nice flow to it.

Is a single combined slideshow what you are really trying to achieve? If so, create a collection for the slideshow and drag images into it. Then you can order images as you want.

User sort order works for bottom level folders or collections, not for ones which contain others.

Yes, John- I am trying to do a single combined show. I guess I can drag 3'' plus images one by one but it is too tedious for me. I trying to find an easier (lazy) way of doing it.

Sitting through 3'' slides might be tedious too.... Not your photos of course ;)

You can always drag them in groups, not one at a time. Set up the slideshow collection and set it to user order. Drag the ones from folder #1, which I assume are now in the user order you want. Then add those from folder #2, and so on.

It seems that I am not aware of a certain command. I can highlight one image or whole lot( ctrl-a) but when I drag over - I can only drag one image. So, my last question is how do you drag a group of images? I hope I am not the only person in the forum not knowing how to do this!

PS I tried dragging one folder into another that does not work.

Check how you're grabbing the images to drag Bob - you need to be picking it up by the centre of the thumbnail, rather than round the outside edge. Clicking around the outside edge deselects all other images, which is likely what you're seeing.

That is the trick! Thanks to all of you!
