Hi all,

I am using sometimes the Luminar 4 plugin with classic and have a question regarding the file format Luminar is using.

When I open an image from LR in Luminar 4 then Luminar always creates a .tiff file and I dont see any way of changing this. When I go into LR preferences I have under external editing already chosen .psd for Luminar 4 but anyway Luminar is still creating .tiff files.

Is there a ways to change this and why does it not work by choosing psd under external editing?

Regards,
Tom

Probably not, but why would you want to change it?

thanks for your answer, thats how it is then I guess.

Just thought to change if its possible because I am generally not a fan of tiff files, they have no advantage, just a much bigger file size compared to psd.

Regards,
Tom

TIFF files should not be that much bigger if you use compression. Just make sure you use the right one. LZW is fine for 8 bits files, but completely useless for 16 bits files. ZIP should work for both.

Even Adobe has started to de emphasize the Psd file format. Most edit apps can read and write TIFFs. PSD is derived from the TIFF/EP6 standard. As Johan points out, TIFFs compress quite small
