Pop up when shooting tethered

I'm fairly new to lightroom, but have got it working for shooting tethered. The photos appear in the folders specified, but I also get a pop up asking to import the files seperately.

I think this is related to the software seeing the camera as a removable disk, its an EOS 4''d, but does anyone know how I change the configuration so it doesn't auto recognise removable disks? For tethered shooting to work I'm happy to have to do it manually at other times.

Chrisms, on Windows, there may be dueling auto-starts, from the OS, and from LR.

To disable the LR auto-import pop-up, Menu > File > Preferences > Import Tab, top check box, "Show import dialog when a memory card is detected", uncheck it.

If it's the Vista auto-play, I'm not sure how to turn that off, but I assume it's well documented elsewhere.

Thanks, I've turned it off on that setting, but still happening, must be a Vista stting I guess. I'll look into it an dpost back what i find.

Sorry for taking so long to get back, I've been away for a bit. Image is attahced, doesn't look to be a Vista thing as when I just connect the camera and turn it on Vista does nothing but launch the EOS Utility.

Any ideas would be great. I've also stopped the camera from writing to the card when tethered, it just drops it straight in the folder, to stop windows from seeing a file write.

Well, geez. I dunno' at this point. Since I'm running XP, I can't experiment any further.

One last thing you could try, depending on your level of comfort with Windows plumbing. There may be a service running "adproxy.exe", which I believe is Adobe's media detector. If you know how, use the Windows management console to halt that service, and disable auto-start on it.

I'm not entirely comfortable giving you explicit directions for that, because like registry twiddling, a mistake can cause lots of trouble.

But, if you know what I'm talking about, give it a shot .....

Thanks, I'm happy with the tech stuff, I'm a techie for my day job as well, so I'll give it a go. Is the adproxy.exe like the Adboe Downloader service that runs in systray? I've turned that off....

There is the Lightroom popup (you disabled so OK), the OS popup (you don't see so also OK) but this is a third one! This time, coming from you EOS utility.

Two coices then: Go into you EOS utility to see if you can disable from starting as the system start or if you do not use it anymore (didn't you replaced that workflow with Lightroom's?) then uninstall it completely.

The EOS utility is just configured to move the photo into a folder. I tried this without lightroom open and when the EOS utility had saved the file across, lightroom aut started and imported the photo seemlessly, no pop up or anything.

Next photo I took with LR open the pop up came back... so its definitely a Lightroom setting? Should I uninstall and try again?

Success! Found the setting at last. EOS Utility was setup to auto launch lightroom.exe when tethered shooting, and that created the pop up. (See attached)

If you make sure this is set to None then it all works.
