We’ve made a small change to the forum’s bot protection following a recent spike in automated traffic that was affecting the server. This should help keep the forum running smoothly.

The hosting company has told us that the compatibility issue we ran into last year has since been fixed, and everything looks good in our testing so far. However, there are lots of different browsers, devices and network setups out there, so if you do run into any unexpected problems, please let us know.

In particular, we’d like to hear if you see:
  • A “Please wait while we verify you’re not a bot” page that doesn’t complete.
  • “Security error occurred” messages.
  • Pages that won’t load or repeatedly refresh.
  • Anything else that prevents you browsing the forum normally.
If you report an issue (either by reply or using the Contact form linked in the menubar), it would really help if you could include:
  • The page you were trying to visit (a link if possible).
  • Whether you were logged in.
  • Your browser and device.
  • Approximately what time it happened.
Thanks everyone!

It takes at least ten seconds to get to the "whats-new" page (where I start), and four or five to load any of the listed pages. The overall feel is vast sluggishness.

Firefox browser under Win 11 here in PEI; I'm logged in; it has been happening since I first visited about an hour ago. I wondered what might be happening, and then I found your thread.

Also, very sluggish behaviour .. as above... using Safari on iPad.. have fibre internet connection.. I notice the message.. detecting human.. then a long delay before items list. (Ie what's new).

Ok, the server-side "please wait while we verify you're not a bot" should be gone, as that broke the ability for people who weren't logged in to browse certain pages. For the moment, we've got Cloudflare's "under attack" mode turned on, so you may see their detecting human thing on first visit... I'll be interested to know if you see it again on the same browser. While all this was going on, we had to clear all the caches, so I would anticipate slower browsing for a few hours... hopefully it'll sort itself out as the cache rebuilds, but I'll be back on this in the morning when it's had time to settle a bit.

Sluggishness confirmed. Edge browser on Windows 11.

Same here

Same here as @Hal P Anderson.

Firefox browser, Win 11 25H2, in SF Bay Area in California. ISP is Comcast.

Just got this error message when I tried to mark all forums read

The server we're on was hit by a DDOS attack. It never rains, but it pours! Thankfully, our amazing host was right on top of it and rerouted. I'll follow up with any performance issues tomorrow when things have settled.

Same here. The site is super slow. Sometimes I just get an empty page if I click on a link and have to go back and load the link again.
I'm having the same experience. Switching pages in the website takes about 15 seconds. And I have to ask, why do I need to prove I am not a bot every time I enter the Lightroom Queen website? Isn't once enough? I don't need to log on. LightroomQueen website shows me logged on. If I don't need to log on that why should I have to re-prove I am not a bot? Once validated the bot checker should have my IP address If you user at the end of the IP address is valid once, why isn't this forever?

I've been running into this issue most of the day today, particularly in Safari on my iPad and iPhone; Safari on my Mac Studio works better. I can't even tell you if I was logged in, because I couldn't get any LrQ page to load. I repeatedly (but not always) got the message referenced by @PhilBurton in post #7. Interestingly, while LrQ wouldn't load for me in Safari on the iPad & iPhone, I was able to load and login on both the iPhone and iPad using the Chrome browser. Go figure.

For sometime now, perhaps unrelated to this issue, I couldn't get the forum page to load directly but I could get to the farm just fine as long as I first went to the main lightroomqueen.com page and navigated to the forum from there. The symptom was not getting any message from Cloudflare but simply that the page just wouldn't load. The loading thermometer would just start to move and then hang up.

Seems to be working normally now. (5 pm, PDT, GMT-7)

Your IP address may actually change, due to ISP operations.

It will be helpful to see how you all find things now. Site settled and cleared cache now building; this morning (UK), I'm finding performance where I expect it.

Please accept our thanks for the feedback; it's appreciated and helps us take action where needed.

(I test on Chrome and Safari, both performing well at this point).

This morning I got to the site very quickly, so quickly I've already forgotten what flashed across the screen before LRQ opened. This was using Firefox/Mac.

I had similar experiences last two days. Sometimes I see the header page without any other text and had to delete the link and re do it. Or go and do something else and comeback.

I am traveling and have a slow hotel connection. This morning this site popped up quickly and it is responding as good as or better than other sites.

What's the expected frequency of that check? I tend to remain logged on permanently (with the 30-day verification), and similarly my browser (Chrome on Mac) remains active all day which includes the forum tab. So far today I've had the bot check appear 4 times, and although it's only for a second or so each time I expect it will start to irritate.

I'm hoping we'll be able to turn it off again soon... there are some additional settings I want to play with that should give us bot protection without the full "under attack" mode, but I need everything to settle before I start messing things up again!

Also fine in Safari on iPad.
