Hi...I have just got my brand new Macbook Pro and have just installed Lightroom 1.3....I have the screen up and every time I try to click on anything the message "An error occurred when attempting to change modules" I have looked everywhere for advice on what I need to do and keep hitting brickwalls...I am new to Mac as have been a PC person (I had lightroom 1.3 for PC) and had no probs with the install on the PC...Any ideas would be soooo appreciated....I am at a loss right now and so dissappointed...:(

Can you please detail how you did the install i.e. from CD?

Sorry bad use of words....I have been downloading updates for the Mac Leopard as I thought this may help....I installed it from a CD.....

Okay, then I would suggest downloading 1.3.1 (see the link I provided earlier) and start fresh. If that doesn't fix it, then I have to leave it to Geoff for now -- it's bedtime for me!

Ok thanks Mark...I am Mountain time... a couple of hours behind......I will try what you suggest....really appreciate your help!!!!

Jeanne ,can you go to Help in the library module then System info and tell me what it says in "Version"

Also have you upgraded to OSX 1'.5.2?

Hi Geoff...sorry was again looking for help out there!!! Appreciate this....the install as far as the Lightroom application... is in my system....I click on a tab i.e library...any of them really in the open lightroom and nothing is happening...I just get this error message..."An error occurred when attempting to change modules" I have tried everything from installing the Lightroom updates and my Mac system OS leopard updates....uninstalling and reinstalling the lightroom etc...but nothing is working..I know there were some incompatibility issues with the Lightroom 1.3...was this one of them? Oh and how great you are in New Zealand...I have family and friends out there!!

If lightroom is open in the library module you can pull down the "help" and access the system info from there. This is on the top (finder) bar not in the LR panel.
See attached file.

I am just trying to reinstall it...I actually didnt see those titles in the help drop down when I looked earlier...but I will try again...

Ok its not looking good....my help drop down only lists until the "The Five Rules" no system info etc... I just wanted to mention that when I installed it took about a minute of actual installation once I clicked install after following the prompts...it was also 69 MB..is this about right?

I am trying to rule out some things and I just wanted to ask you about the actual Lightroom application you have on your system...when you go into the applications and scroll down to see the Lightroom...does it have any sub folders within the program? Its just that I don't seem to have any....

I have heard a few reports of Lightroom not installing fully, and giving this result. So, things to check...

Don't install off the cd unless it specifically says 1.3.1. Download it from Adobe's site.

Once it's installed, and before you open it, check 2 things for me...

1. Adobe Lightroom in the applications folder does not have any subfolders (well, they are packaged into a single app) - but make sure it's about 69.4mb in size.

2. Go into [system hard drive]/users/[your username]/library/application support/adobe/lightroom/ and make sure there are a series of folders there. Also check [system hard drive]/library/application support/adobe/lightroom

Last time I heard of this, that was the problem - the install hadn't copied them in. Either try reinstalling, copy them from another machine or I'll drop you the folders zipped if that doesn't sort it.

Hi Victoria....Thank you for giving me that check list...I have downloaded fro the site and now I am at #2.....as a totally new Mac user...where would I find the heading system hard drive? So I can do the check.... Thanks ;)

By default it's probably called Macintosh HD Jeanne.

Hi again I managed to locate all that you were saying to check.....yay!!!....but from what I can see there are no folders....the only folder is one titled "Develope Presets" which when opened has a list of templates...so please could you send me the zipped folders....and if you wouldn't mind some simple instructions of what I need to do with them....really thankful that you are out there!!!!!! :o)

Jeanne
