• Welcome to the Lightroom Queen Forums! We're a friendly bunch, so please feel free to register and join in the conversation. If you're not familiar with forums, you'll find step by step instructions on how to post your first thread under Help at the bottom of the page. You're also welcome to download our free Lightroom Quick Start eBooks and explore our other FAQ resources.
  • The November 2019 Lightroom updates are now available. Lightroom Classic includes the ability to export the same photos as multiple sizes/formats in a single export, content aware fill for panorama edges and more. It does require a catalog format upgrade and there are updated system requirements, so you may want to wait a few days before upgrading.
Lightroom (cloud-based service) has export options (such as TIFF format, renaming and color space), custom sort order on the desktop, copy/paste to multiple photos on iOS and more.
The Missing FAQ and Edit Like a Pro eBooks are already updated for the changes.
  • Are you using the cloud-based Lightroom apps for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Apple TV and Web? Then you'll love my new book, Adobe Lightroom - Edit Like a Pro!

You'll learn how to use the Lightroom cloud ecosystem to organize, edit and share your photos. You'll also come to understand the thought processes used by professional photographers when they're editing their own photos, so you can transform your photos quickly and easily. And better still, the eBooks are updated for every release, so it's always up to date.
  • Just a quick head's up - we'll be moving to a new server shortly (likely in the next couple of days) so there might be a little downtime. I'll update this note as I get more information.

please help

Hi I know nothing about pictures really I just take them on my phone then transfer them to laptop via usb cable. I had taken some pics on my Xperia xa1, transferred them to my geo notebook like I had done several times before without any problem. This time when I try to open the photos with photos on windows 10 it says "it appears that we don't support this file format" the first file is DSC_005.JPG. I transferred 2 lots of photos into 2 new folders on the same day and one folder is fine. The only difference I can see under properties is the ones that worked have jpg in small and the ones that didn't have it in capitals. The ones that won't open supposedly are 8GB in size each totalling 6.5TB but the notebook only has 32gb memory! I did nothing differently in transferring the 2 lots of photos so right now I am confused.com but hoping not to have lost the photos of my family holiday

It's not clear from your post how Lightroom is involved in this issue. When you say "it says", what is "it"? Also, are the photos really 8 Gb, or 8 Mb?

The error message when I try to view a photo

It says they are 8Gb which is obviously wrong but how do I fix it?

I thought lightroom was a forum for advice didn't realise it was anything more, try googling the issue and came across this site

The screenshots look like Windows, not Lightroom. Lightroom is a big Adobe photo handling and editing program. This forum is devoted to its many complexities. I don't know why the mixup with the file sizes, but it doesn't look like a Lightroom issue.

By "what is 'it'", I meant what program or function is giving you the messages? You mention "photos" (not capitalized); do you mean the Windows program? If so, perhaps the way to solve the problem is to look at Help for that program.
