Today, I opened LR and imported images from today's shoot. I encountered two behaviors that I need to correct:

1. On import, I wanted to use the filename right out of the camera; however, the import dialog would only show the custom filename option -- I have been using that latter option for a long time, so maybe I was looking in the wrong place, but I looked everywhere I could think of.

2. More importantly, all the User Presets are gone from the develop module. I can still see them in Finder, but (a) what would cause them to disappear (I did not reset anything in Preferences) and (b) how do I get them back into LR?

1. Select the "Filename" naming template and it will use the camera generated filenames.

2. Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Presets, is the "Store presets with catalog" box checked? If so, uncheck it.

1. So just to clarify, the interface always looks like it's "custom" even if the customization is limited to using camera filename?
2. One simple click did, in fact, restore my presets, but do you have any insight on how it got changed in the first place? I am 99.9% certain that I didn't change anything in Preferences.

Thanks for your help.

1. If you pick 'Filename' from the dropdown list, it should say Filename. You haven't removed the file naming presets by accident, by any chance? Does Filename preset appear in the dropdown - before you have to go anywhere near the Edit dialog?

2. The computer changing its own preferences is a new one on me... possible a stray click? It could be some kind of corruption though.

There is only one option in the dropdown and that is Custom. As with the mysterious preference change, I cannot imagine how I could accidentally have removed those presets. Supposing, though, that I did, any thoughts on how to restore them? Note: Since posting this I have installed 1.4.1, but I can't get the import dialogue to open until I have a populated card in the cardreader which will be tomorrow. Might I get those presets back with 1.4.1?

Good tip; I would have had no reason to check that box unless I just randomly thought "saving with Lr catalog" seemed like a good idea. Well, it DID seem like a good idea at the time . . . :frown:
So, did you managed to retrieve your presets?
I discovered it when I wanted to include my presets with a catalog to be exported to my laptop...

I did, thank you. Sorry for the tardy reply; I've been away for a while.
