Hi there!

I´m working on a Macbook M1 pro and have a frustrating problem. After coming home shooting with my Sony A7 IV i put my SD card into my Macbook and open Lightroom. After clicking on "Import" i can take a look at every single picture on the SD Card and decide which to import onto the macbook.

After the import-process is finished I have the problem that some of those imported pictures are not getting shown. The picture is completely greyed out and won´t show any information. If i look up the same picture in the file browser it opens just fine, but not in Lightroom. I can also open them in Topaz or Luminar and work with them.

Do you have any ideas for that?

Already tried using different SD cards and reinstalling Lightroom.

It’s possible that your ‘catalogname previews.lrdata‘ file is corrupted. Move it out of your catalog folder and then start Lightroom Classic again. Initially you will not have any previews at all, but then Lightroom will start rebuilding them one by one. See if that solves it.

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately it didn´t help and the pictures are still not getting shown correctly.

what happens if you take one of those images over to the Develop Module?

...and does anything show up in their Metadata section?

I suggest you display the filenames in the screen grab, so we can see file types, naming patterns, etc.

Also, is this a display of the import collection, the actual folder or a collection. I suggest include the folder panel in the screen grab also.

Here are more screenshots. Two from the lightroom develop module including the file names. The other one from the folder on my macbook (the metadata are available there).
The metadata don´t even show up in Lightroom. I´ve deleted the previews.lrdata several times now and cleared the cache but it didn´t help.

Those two Lightroom screenshots are from the Library (Bibliothek) module, not the Develop (Entwickeln) module. Please select the Develop module tab to see if the photo appears there.

Also, while in the Library module, try building a 1:1 preview to see if that has any effect.

Your third screenshot shows no file name for the blank thumbnails, while the normal thumbnails do have a file name. That suggests a problem that I have seen discussed in the Adobe forum before. It suggests catalog corruption. Try the following. Create a new catalog and import some of the images that are the problem images in this catalog. If they import without a problem in this new catalog, then it is indeed catalog corruption. If that is the case, then you can often solve this as follows. Create a new catalog and then use ’File - Import from Another catalog ‘. Import from your old catalog. Select to import all images and select the option to import new images without moving them. This will create a copy of your current catalog, but hopefully without the corruption.

Thank you so much Johan! That solved my issue and I can open them just fine!
