In Publish Services (Flickr), what is the purpose/use of Photostream that is inserted by default?

I understand that I can add images directly to the Photostream, and Flickr will then show them "un-setted" in my Flickr photostream.

However, if I create an album in my Flickr Publish Service, then the photos will be added to a set in Flickr, and also the Photostream on Flickr. But in Lightroom, the Photostream shows 0 images!

What is the point therefore of having Photostream there? I cannot delete it. If I wish all photos to be in Albums, what is the point of it?

It's there if you want to use it as a "bucket" to publish to Flickr without creating albums. But using Flickr the way you do (which is the same way as I used), it serves no useful purpose. I know it's frustrating that it can't be removed, but I did learn to ignore it and not have it bother me.

Jeffrey Friedl's publish service may be more flexible in this regard.

Excellent. Thanks for the fast and helpful response. I suspected that might be the case, but there was no info in the LR help file or anywhere else I could find. So thanks again for the help.
