Exact Lightroom Version (Help menu > System Info):

I quite PS especially as there are lots of online tutorials, would it be expensive to buy a perpetual version and would I be better of getting an alternative for a lot cheaper? I am a hobbyist but I do enjoy tweaking my images.

Adobe no longer sells a perpetual version of Photoshop. You can only subscribe. Currently, subscribing just to Photoshop costs twice as much as subscribing to both Photoshop and Lightroom Classic. Yes, you read that right. You get both for $10 per month or just Photoshop for $20. You can still purchase Lightroom 6, but I don't know for how much longer it will be available.
