PhotoShop Levels and Lightroom

Hi,

I have just begun using Lightroom 1.4.1 after using Elements 5 for about a year.

I am having a difficult time with the two histograms.

After a recet shoot I have pulled everything into Lightroom and almost all images look under exposed, if I change the exposure slider by about 1 stop they look fine, but in the histogram the highlights are still a long way from the end of the histogram. If I continue changing the exposure to just before getting clipping the image is way overexposed.

In Elements, I have the same image, I move the highlight histogram slider in Levels and the image looks about the same as step one in Lightroom (when the slider has been moved to put the highlight at the end of the histogram graph.

What is the difference?

It would appear that there is not equivelent to Levels in Lightroom and using the Exposure control does not allow for the same type of changes.

What am I missing?

I had a thread about pretty much the same thing just a while back. The answers I got boiled down to using the blacks along with exposure in LR to get similiar results to levels. I played with it some but IMO there just is no equivilent to levels in LR. There are just some images that need levels correction in PS or Elements. Once again, IMO.

Guys, I can see the connection with the Blacks, Brightness and Exposure.

But LR does not work the same. As my example shows, but moving the highlght slider in PE5 it brings up the image but does not over exposue it. But doing the same in LR and taking the exposure up until just before clipping the overall image is much too bright.

I guess I will just have to figure the best way to use either.
