Photos won't display in folder

I am at a loss to figure out what is going on. I have photos I have recently looked at in 3 folders that are no longer displaying. When I look at them on the hard drive, they are there but in Lightroom the first picture shows in Navigator but nothing displays in library view. I also have a sub folder of one of these folders missing images that has a date which when I navagate to that date (via zoombrowser) on my hard shows the correct images under the parent folder but that date is listed on the hard drive in another area and is not the same images! I lost some prime Yellowstone images two years ago and thought it was my error now I wonder. Any ideas? Running 2.6 on Vista.

If you have renamed or moved any files / folders the LR will no longer know where they are. Try a sync of the folder in LR and see if it picks them up.

Hi Mullysr, welcome to the forum!

Be careful syncing, as if you remove photos from LR and then reimport, you'd lose your LR settings.

So when you look at them in Explorer, do they have the same file names as within LR? Can you post screenshots of LR and explorer so we can see what you're looking at?

I have not moved or renamed any files. The jpeg and cr.2 files are still showing for file names. All the images are showing in Zoombrowser for the parent and child folder. The ones in the parent folder won't show although the first picture in the folder shows in the Navigator pane. I have screen shots but can't figure out how to add them here.

I know how to send screen shots here- it is probably the only thing I know what to do around here! Hit: additional options > you should see Attach: look for your screen shot file and pay attention to the max sizes.

Roger, just below the reply box, see 'Preview' button, click that, which will open a more robust text editor dialog, at lower left of that, see 'Additional Options', as Bob noted.
