I'm using LR2.2 and a CRT monitor to prepare images for display on my 72'p 16:9 LCD HDTV. Two questions:

I Export my images for display at 128'x72' (shortest side = 72'p). What the best resolution to use? (I've heard that 96 ppi is a good choice.)

My LCD images appear generally brighter, sharper, more contrasty, more saturated than on my (calibrated) CRT monitor. Any guidance for how to bring these images into better alignment? Lots of adjustments on TV, monitor, LR. Perhaps there is a LR preset that can get me in the right ballpark?

Somehow nobody has answered this question... Sorry about that, Gerry!

The resolution (PPI setting) is irrelevant. Put anything you want in there, it has absolutely no effect for this purpose.

As for the second question, using a Develop preset is the wrong approach. The idea in LR is that you perfect your image inside LR, and then make output device specific corrections at output time. That is, for the web, you use sRGB. For printing, you use the profile for your printer/ink/paper combo. For your LCD, you'd ideally want to profile it and use that profile on Export.

Given that your TV has lots of adjustments, I'd start there -- put up a photo exported in sRGB side by side with your calibrated computer monitor, and adjust the TV until it looks as similar as possible.

Then, if possible, use a colorimeter to profile the TV, and use that profile on export. This may be straightforward if your computer has an HDMI output, and you can use the TV as a monitor, then use your regular hardware monitor calibrator.

If you can't use a colorimeter to create a profile, perhaps you could experiment with the DNG Profile Editor by eye to make something that looks good by eye, and use that profile on Export.
