Photo Size

After editing some photos in LR I notice that their resolution is 24'dpi, but I was told need these particular photos saved at 3'' resolution instead. I see no way of selecting that in LR.....help anyone?

Shaye, several possible misconceptions here; from your questions, I'm assuming you're in the process of learning Lr, so forgive me if I tell you some things you already may be aware of.

First, Lr doesn't 'save' files. The adjustments you make are automatically saved in Lr's catalog database file, along with pointers/links to the actual image files which are stored where you imported them from on your hard drive. If you need access to files with the adjustments, you'll have to *export* them.

Secondly, dpi in a digital image file is fundamentally a meaningless number. Unfortunately, many people (editors, clients, designers) don't know this, and insist that images have a specified dpi 'resolution'. DPI only really matters to a program which is trying to 'print' a file using a print size specifed in inches. Lr does allow you to specify a dpi/ppi, in the export dialog, which you should be using, per paragraph 1 above.

Erase what? Lr is extremely, extremely flexible in returning to earlier steps in the adjustment process. Tell us more about what you want to do, and we can give more specific advice.

Thank you...that was most informative and helpful. Yes, I am very new to LR.
I did figure out exporting photos...
My other question about erasing......I had a photo I was editing in LR and I wanted to erase an item that I didn't like in the photo and didn't want to have to then go to PS to remove it so I was wondering if LR had that capability. For convenience if nothing else.

Since getting LR I found I am doing most my editing there as opposed to PS. But I have soooooooooooooo much to learn. Thanks for your help!

[/quote]Shayebyrd, I've been at this about a month, but I think I can answer your question. In the Develop module on the left Panel there are two tools tha may 'Erase' for you. One is the Spot Removal tool and the other is the Adjustment brush set to Erase mode. The spot removal tool is probably what you need to wipe out blemishes or to clone background over unwanted objects.

The adjustment brush willll selectively erase any previous adjustment made with the brush in case of an Oops.

I've found that LR will do about 9'% of what I needed in a fancy image prossessing tool like Photoshop.

[/quote]The Selective Edit tools described are in the Right Panel in Develop. THe adjustment parameters only show when you click on one of the Icons just under the Histogram.
